Every year, we print and bind millions of paperback and/or hardback books for leading Italian and international publishers. Whether large runs of best-seller or niche productions, sheet-fed or digital printing, Rotolito always has the right solution in terms of paper type, finish, quality and sustainability.
Whether a literary ‘classic’, a contemporary essay, or a riveting ‘detective story’, all novels have features in common: the inner pages are normally printed in one colour while a variety of ennobling techniques are applied to the cover to make the book more attractive when displayed in the bookshop. Thanks to digital technology, Rotolito is able to fulfil requests for low print numbers (e.g. small reprints) while for medium and high runs, it uses Timsons web offset presses with folding optimised for all standard “black and white” book formats.

Meeting deadlines for text book deliveries is essential for the back to school business of educational publishers. Which is why the leading educational publishers, both in Italy and abroad, entrust us with the printing of millions of volumes. For the printing and packaging side, we use a variety of solutions depending on the quantities requested (digital web offset, 4-colour Timsons and web commercial presses, wide sewing capacity) whereas we have recently invested in a solution for automating all the processes after the binding, such as adding inserts and CDs, or shrink-wrapping different volumes in a single package (e.g. text book and work book). We have been able to produce exercise books, notepads and notebooks, etc. for some time.

When the number of pages increases, as in the case of dictionaries, codices or religious texts, low-weight paper, so-called ‘bible paper’ must be used for the inner pages. These lightweight supports call for special care and attention in all the productions stages from printing to packaging. Rotolito has the necessary know-how and technology to deal with these types of products. In digital web offset and Timsons presses, we can also work with paper of less than 40 grams, while in bookbinding we are able to bind books with spines up to 7 centimetres.

We carry out all types of binding in-house in our different production facilities. Whether it is a milled or thread sewn paperback binding (the most commonly used in publishing), or hardback for high-quality prints, or stapled for large print-run brochures and flyers, spine glued or spiral/Wire-O, we have the most suitable technology for all foliation, functional and aesthetic needs.
Rotolito can provide a comprehensive range of solutions for the cover to meet the requirements of editors and companies who know how attractive a high-quality, valuable, premium cover, that is attractive to look at and touch, can be to consumers.
The possibilities of ennobling printed material are endless. Customers who commission the printing of books, magazines, catalogues, brochures, price lists and, above all, printed material for the luxury market, can enhance their communications tools with embossing, laser processing, special paints, soft touch effects, lamination or special gold or silver screen printing: All this is possible thanks to our experience, consulting capabilities and the cutting-edge technology of our range of machines.
